Mobile Experience Introduces Locals and Visitors to Plano’s Shopping Scene; Helps Support Retailers Impacted By COVID-19

PLANO, Texas (June 9, 2021) –Visit Plano, the destination marketing organization for the City of Plano, is rolling out a new  “Shop Across Plano Shopping Pass.” The purpose of the mobile program is twofold – to broaden consumer awareness of the many shopping options available in Plano, and to bolster local retail businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The free, mobile-friendly program is available to locals and visitors alike and features a “passport” showcasing 40 Plano retailers in practically every category from men’s and women’s fashions and accessories to home décor to beauty and gifts. Beginning on June 9, consumers simply go to the landing page at A link is then sent to the user’s mobile phone, which opens the passport and directs the user to add the button icon to their home screen for easy access any time. (There are no downloads or bulky apps that take up phone space.)

Then, the fun begins. Users can browse the list of participating retailers and plan a shopping itinerary to suit their fancy.  Once they arrive at each store, they check in on their mobile phone using the passport link. After 15 check-ins at participating Plano retailers over a three and a half month period, they will receive a Plano shopping tote bag, courtesy of Visit Plano.

“The ‘Shop Across Plano’ shopping pass is a win-win for retailers, patrons and the Plano community,” said Visit Plano Director Mark Thompson. “The program encourages consumers to shop local and discover the amazing variety of great  items and special values offered by Plano retailers who are such a vital part of our community.”

Visit Plano partnered with Bandwango, a respected technology company specializing in travel and destination marketing, to create the mobile-friendly experience.
